You cannot change your resident status to a Digital Nomad Visa from another type of visa. However, you can apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) while in Japan.
Important notes:
A residence card will not be issued with this visa.
The visa cannot be renewed. You must leave Japan after the six-month stay period has expired. You can reapply after six months have passed since your departure from Japan.

Entering into an employment contract with or receiving work from a Japanese company.
